Basketball IQ

One of the toughest parts about watching this Bulls team has been the low basketball IQ displayed night in and night out from nearly every player on the court.

Wendell Carter Jr. is the only Bull that stands out as a supremely smart player. He has incredible vision for a big man and his defensive rotations are already elite.

Carter’s biggest problem right now is his confidence. He needs to look for his own shot more. That’s why it’s important to note here that we’re taking his basketball IQ, not his basketball attitude.

We’ll get to attitude later.

Defensive ability

If we didn’t already use Wendell Carter Jr., he’d be a decent option here. But the Bulls have one guy who’s better than a decent option. That guy is Kris Dunn.

Dunn is an elite perimeter defender. If he was on a winning team, he’d get far more national attention for what he does on that end of the court. He’s fantastic at blowing up dribble handoffs and screens, he’s always in the passing lanes and he’s an absolute menace on the ball. I can’t think of many guys that would be more annoying to play against than Kris Dunn, and that’s the ultimate compliment.

Shaquille Mokoka will now officially be one of those annoying, pesky defenders.
