Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons Jim Boylen is NBA’s most unprofessional coach
1. His terrible timeouts
The most notable of the weird antics of Boylen this season with the Chicago Bulls is all the bad timeouts he takes and then his horrid explanations in post-game press conferences. There’s too many bad timeouts to count this season, but he even had some over the weekend, including when the Bulls were down at home on Feb. 22 against the Phoenix Suns.
Maybe the ability to talk to the media will be stripped away from Boylen in due time. His “Field of Dreams” comments were one of the big reasons why he’s a running caricature across the NBA. In any situation where he needs to say something smart and constructive about his team’s efforts during the third year of this fast failing rebuild, he can’t come up with anything.
NBC Sports Chicago is starting to catch more and more of the reactions of the Bulls players whenever Boylen takes a bad timeout. The Bulls need a better head coach that is going to command more respect around the NBA. Instead, the Bulls have a head coach that takes timeouts to draw up bad plays when games are over and getting roasted because of it.
Boylen has to figure out this timeout situation, and fast. He’s making a bigger and bigger laughing stock out of the Bulls organization each time he does that.
In the 20-38 record that the Bulls registered so far this season, there’s little to no reason why Boylen should still be kept around beyond the summer. That’s not near good enough for a head coach that has this many weird antics to stick around with a storied big market NBA franchise.
