2. Iman Shumpert, Shooting Guard/Wing
Most the time spent for the former Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets shooting guard/small forward Iman Shumpert of late in public is either at NBA All-Star Weekend in various celebrity events and in his rap videos and concerts.
However, Shumpert still offers a good amount of value to any team needing a veteran two-way wing with his skill set. Shumpert last played in 13 games with the Nets this season. But he was waived from the Nets just as quick as they signed him out of free agency. The former NBA Champion and 2011-12 All-Rookie Team honoree also spent time in his career with the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Kings.
In those 13 games played with the Nets, Shumpert averaged 4.2 points per game, 2.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 0.9 steals, while shooting 32.8 percent from the field and 24.2 percent from three-point land. The goose egg number of win shares and 5.3 player efficiency rating Shumpert registered with the Nets wasn’t his best, but it showed that he had some rust to shake off.
Just as Shumpert started to find his groove deeper down the bench in Brooklyn, they waived him. No one took a flier out on Shumpert since that point.
Maybe that team could be the Chicago Bulls.
If the Bulls can get that version of Shumpert that can post around a 1.0 value over replacement player rating, 0.7 defensive box plus/minus (his career average), and at least .070 win shares per 48 minutes, then he can offer them a lot of value on the wing. The Bulls surely need help on the wing given all the injuries to OPJ and Hutch this season.
