Current Position: Denver Nuggets GM

The grand prize that the Chicago Bulls could land on their potential general manager search is serving in the same position with the Denver Nuggets right now. The Nuggets accomplished general manager Arturas Karnisovas built a title contender out West behind the likes of guard Jamal Murray and big man Nikola Jokic.

This Nuggets roster is one of the deeper and more talented in the entirety of the NBA this season. If the Nuggets are able to push the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers on a run to the NBA Finals out West this season, then Karnisovas deserves even more credit than what he’s getting now.

Taking a chance on high ceiling draft prospects like the former Oregon Ducks center Bol Bol and Mizzou Tigers forward Michael Porter Jr. could give the Nuggets a lot of talented options in the rotation moving forward. But the jury is still out on how the injury prone bigs that are Bol and MPJ will pan out in the NBA.

Karnisovas has served as the Nuggets general manager since 2013. He built this roster from the ground up, and installed a good head coach for this organization with Michael Malone. The system that the Nuggets run is one of the smarter in the NBA, with a seamless pick-and-roll scheme that runs off of Murray and Jokic.

Since Karnisovas first started as the Nuggets general manager back in 2013, he was considered a top candidate for openings with the Nets and Bucks. But nothing ever happened from those considerations and he’s still one of the better general managers in the NBA today.
