4. Danny Ferry

Current Position: N/A (Former New Orleans Pelicans interim GM)

The only Chicago Bulls general manager candidate on this list that isn’t currently serving in a major NBA front office role at the moment is the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry. As one of the more up and down timelines for any NBA career general manager, Ferry at least had successful runs in constructing title contenders in the past.

Last year, Ferry served as the interim general manager with the then rebuilding New Orleans Pelicans. But he was replaced by a former Brooklyn Nets assistant general manager Trajan Langdon to be the next Pelicans general manager along with the vice president of basketball operations David Griffin.

Before his time as the interim general manager of the Pelicans, Ferry was a vice president of basketball operations with the San Antonio Spurs and the Cavaliers and Hawks GM. When he was the Cavaliers general manager, he was trying to build a team around superstar forward LeBron James in his first stint in Cleveland.

After his time as the Cavaliers general manager was up, Ferry took over with the Hawks in the same position. But that tenure with the Hawks ended in controversial fashion. He took an advisor role to the general manager with the Pelicans in 2016, until Dell Demps was let go in NOLA.

That interim GM job with the Pelicans was Ferry’s last opportunity to work his way back into a very relevant management role at the NBA ranks. But he’s still a management free agent in the NBA world.
