A potential return between 31-year-old point guard Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls could be in the cards in his mind for the 2021 offseason.

Any news and/or rumors linking the Chicago Bulls back with the Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose by now is sure to gain a ton of attention. The former Bulls MVP floor general is seeing a nice bounce back season this year in the Motor City. He was great for the Minnesota Timberwolves last season too before he suffered a season-ending UCL tear around 50 games in.

But heading into All-Star Weekend, which will take place at the United Center in Chicago, the Windy City native Rose opened up on his thoughts on where he could be headed once his time with the Pistons is done. D-Rose seems like he is open to a return to his home city, with his recent comments on the matter.

For an interview on 670 The Score recently, D-Rose commented on his thoughts particularly pertaining to the possibility of a Bulls reunion. On that matter, he stated “I’m open to anything after the year is up”.

D-Rose has an expiring contract with the Pistons following next season. He needs to play out his two-year contract that he signed with the Pistons out of free agency last summer worth around $15 million total before he can hit the open market again.

Three three-time All-Star, one-time MVP honoree, and one-time All-NBA Team honoree D-Rose is having a nice bounce back season with the Pistons thus far. He’s averaging 18.2 points per game, 2.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists while shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from three-point range. He also has a player efficiency rating of 21.3 and 2.6 win shares on the season so far.

Rose finished just shy of being named an All-Star reserve for the Eastern Conference this year. His numbers are good, but he likely didn’t get enough starts to get named to the All-Star Game. But it would’ve been cool to see him at least compete in one of the events during All-Star Weekend since it is hosted in his hometown.

When his next stint in free agency is set to come, Rose will be 32-years-old. He spent seven years with the Bulls at the start of his NBA career, and didn’t play in more than one complete season with any of the four other teams he’s been with since.
