3. Kris Dunn

First up is Kris Dunn. The Bulls need him to return to the rotation healthy if the Bulls are going to make a playoff push.

Why, you ask?

Dunn has shown all season long what he’s capable of doing best and that’s defense. If the Bulls want any shot at keeping games close, they need to plug him into the lineup and let him play.

When Dunn was healthy, the Bulls were ranking among the top 10 defenses in the league. He was among the top leaders in steals until a knee injury sidelined him.

In Dunn’s absence, the Bulls’ defense hasn’t exactly stayed the course.

Another positive to Dunn’s game is his improved decision-making. Early on, he showed questionable tendencies with his ability to handle the ball. This is no longer the case. This isn’t to say there isn’t still room for improvement. In late game situations, I still prefer the Bulls to place the ball in LaVine’s hands.

One thing that might help Dunn is if focused on his strengths. This is not to say he shouldn’t shoot three-pointers, which is one of his biggest weaknesses. Dunn should try to mix it up moving forward.

In the past, Dunn has proven he has a bit of a midrange game. For some reason, he’s settling more often than not for three-pointers and if available, he will turn to layups and/or dunks.

It’s been heavily reported in the past how Dunn needs to develop more comfortability with shooting the ball. It’s something he should focus on during the offseason. For now, Dunn needs to minimize his weaknesses and showcase his strengths to help the Bulls make a playoff push.

The hope is that Dunn will have a speedy return. Currently, the team’s injury report lists him as out.

It remains unclear when Dunn’s status will be upgraded to active.
