Is it a smart move for John Paxson and Gar Forman of the Chicago Bulls to jump into trade talks if they could land someone like Joel Embiid this summer?
All the discussions surrounding a potential trade with the Philadelphia 76ers for superstar center Joel Embiid got a bit ridiculous after an intriguing Instagram post he had earlier in the week. But all the blowup that the Instagram caption that Embiid posted got definitely caught waves for numerous national media outlets. ESPN’s Hoop Streams even jumped into the discussion for a possible Embiid trade during the upcoming offseason. Could the Chicago Bulls be a team that would jump into the conversation if this is something that happens?
What makes this a relevant storyline pertaining to the Bulls if an Embiid trade was to actually surface is one other NBA star that jumped into the social media conversation.
Former Bulls star small forward Jimmy Butler replied to this Instagram post from Embiid.
“Jimmy G. Buckets” also had a similar post on his Instagram page just before the Sixers traded him last year like Embiid did earlier this week. That connection is really interesting, but might be more relevant for the Miami Heat than it is the Bulls.
The posts have since been altered, but a team like the Heat that was so active at the trade deadline that has title aspirations over the course of the next year making moves for another star would not be surprising. A team like the Bulls making the move to go after him would make sense too, since John Paxson and Gar Forman still seem intent on landing a star but don’t have a clear path to do so.
Here’s a look into three possible trade packages for the upcoming offseason that the Chicago Bulls could put together to land center Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers.
