An under-the-radar early move that was made ahead of the 2020 trade deadline was the Denver Nuggets shipping out the microwave scoring guard Malik Beasley to the Minnesota Timberwolves in that insane four-team, 12 player trade, that also included the Houston Rockets and the Hawks. The main player in this trade deal was the former Timberwolves forward Robert Covington.

While the Timberwolves were sending RoCo to the Rockets, the Nuggets were also shipping out Beasley to Minnesota. Having an off season with both the Timberwolves and Nuggets so far, Beasley is averaging 8.3 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, while shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from three-point range.

Landing Beasley would bring the Chicago Bulls a solid scoring guard that can space the floor and add a certain level of bounce to the second unit. Doesn’t that sound like something the Bulls could really use at the moment?

Yes it does.

The Bulls might’ve also provided a lot of value in that trade deal that got nearly one-sixth of the NBA involved. They had those trade chips like Valentine, Young, point guard Kris Dunn, and small forward Chandler Hutchison at the very least to work with. But the Nuggets had bigger plans to retool their rotation, and the Timberwolves were the team that they found the most value in becoming a trade partner with.
