What direction should the Chicago Bulls go in if John Paxson and Gar Forman elect to hit the trade market during the 2020 offseason?
Since the Chicago Bulls stayed quiet at the trade deadline on Feb. 6, and angered a good portion of their fan base in the process, they might be focusing on what they could do during the upcoming offseason. The Bulls hold a record of 19-34 heading into a Feb. 11 showdown against the Washington Wizards with the hopes of still contending for a playoff spot.
But those playoff hopes for the Bulls are dwindling very quickly. The Bulls are starting to even lose ground to star shooting guard Bradley Beal and the Wizards, who currently hold the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference standings, with a record of 18-33. If the Wizards take down the Bulls on Tuesday night, then they could sit just 2.5 games back of the struggling Orlando Magic for the final playoff spot in the East.
The Bulls sit more than four games behind the Magic and one game behind the Wizards, currently in 10th place in the standings in the East. They fell this far behind in the standings thanks to the five-game losing streak they currently sit on.
What’s even more depressing for Bulls fans is the fact that they are stacking up the draft lottery odds to potentially get the seventh overall pick in the first round for the fourth straight year. The Bulls had the seventh overall pick in each NBA Draft dating back to 2017, when they selected former Arizona Wildcats seven-foot power forward Lauri Markkanen.
Are there any shakeups that GarPax can make to inject some excitement into this fan base heading into the summer?
