What they did before and providing some future clarity

The Bulls have added Thaddeus Young, Tomas Satoransky, and Luke Kornet via free agency; and Coby White and Daniel Gafford in the draft. That’s an improvement from Robin Lopez, Jabari Parker, Bobby Portis, Antonio Blakeney, and Justin Holiday from a present and future aspect.

The Bulls remained silent at the trade deadline, most likely because there is no value with all the injuries to the roster. Despite not making a move, the Bulls discussed Wendell Carter Jr., LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, and White with a couple of teams at the deadline, but that was to find out what type of trade value they hold in their locker room.

With half the team on the injury report, being sellers wasn’t an option for this team, and quitting on these guys shouldn’t be either. Paxson and Boylen were asked about the deadline, and they certainly justify the calls with other teams.

“Because we don’t know what we have yet,” Paxson said at the United Center. “And we need to see.”

Jim Boylen added, “We weren’t hellbent on making a deal,” Boylen said. “That wasn’t part of the day for us. We still believe in our young core. We still believe in this group of guys, and we’re going to coach them up.’’
