A bad fourth quarter cost the Chicago Bulls on Feb. 9 as they fell short against shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz and the Philadelphia 76ers 118-111.
A loss that was completely expected for the Chicago Bulls occurred on Feb. 9 on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Bulls moved their record to a bleak 19-35 on the season amid their tough 118-111 road loss to the Sixers on Sunday evening. They did play the Sixers tough until the fourth quarter hit. The Bulls were even tied with the Sixers at the end of the third quarter.
The leading scorer for either team in this game was shooting guard Zach LaVine, who finished up with 32 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. But any solid performance on the night for LaVine was overshadowed by a dismal nine turnovers. He combined for just as many rebounds and assists as he had turnovers in this game.
Former New York Knicks center Luke Kornet had a surprisingly good game too as he finished up with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. Kornet added two rebounds and one block to his game line.
But the Bulls didn’t get much scoring help beyond those two. Power forward Thaddeus Young did have a double-double on the night, but barely so with 10 points and 10 boards. Fellow power forward Cristiano Felicio almost had a double-double on the night with 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
The player that stole the show for the Sixers was shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz who had 31 points in 32 minutes off the bench. Korkmaz finished up shooting 12-of-17 from the field and 6-of-11 from three-point land. He also added five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Korkmaz was the true MVP for either team in this Sixers win.
But Sixers star point guard Ben Simmons was on fire too with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and four steals. Simmons and star center Joel Embiid were good as they combined for 22 rebounds and seven steals.
The Sixers continued their domination this season at home. They only have two losses on their home court this season, and the Bulls continued their struggles on the road. Next up for head coach Jim Boylen and the Bulls is a Feb. 11 meeting with star shooting guard Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards.
