Turning to the buyout market to add depth for head coach Jim Boylen and the Chicago Bulls could be a good option if they target the right players.

Since the Chicago Bulls are suffering from such a clear lack of direction thanks to John Paxson and Gar Forman post-trade deadline, it’s hard to know which way this franchise will be headed for the rest of the regular season. If the Bulls still want to try and stay in playoff contention, then turning to the buyout market could be a good option.

If nothing else, this would give the Bulls a head start to land any potential free agency targets early on by getting them in the Windy City for the final stretch. The Bulls need to upgrade the current roster at hand in this cycle of free agency, as the additions last offseason didn’t seem to do a whole lot.

GarPax also doesn’t seem to know the value of the current pieces of their young core. Players like center Wendell Carter Jr., power forward Lauri Markkanen, rookie point guard Coby White, and shooting guard Zach LaVine all sit in waiting to know what the future of this franchise’s direction looks like.

Early names are already starting to fall as to who could be bought out ahead of the 2020 offseason. The buyout market is one of the more intriguing factors that can impact a regular season for various playoff contenders in the NBA. We’ll see how it impacts the playoff race this year in the dying games of the regular season.

Here’s a look into three potential buyout targets for the Chicago Bulls after the 2020 trade deadline.
