Chicago Bulls: 3 costliest injuries still holding this team back
What are the worst injuries that the Chicago Bulls are dealing with that kept them silent at the trade deadline earlier this week?
The injury bug but this Chicago Bulls team really hard of late. Thanks to a number of injuries to their key starters and more valuable rotation players, the Bulls keep falling farther and farther from a .500 record. Their 125-119 loss at home at the United Center on Feb. 6 at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans dropped the Bulls record to 19-34 on the season.
Head coach Jim Boylen and the Bulls do still sit within striking distance of the Orlando Magic for the eight seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. They sit 3.5 games behind the Magic, and are in 10th place in the standings in the East. But the Washington Wizards moved slightly ahead of the Bulls in the standings in ninth place.
The Bulls also sat stagnant at the trade deadline this year. Last year, John Paxson and Gar Forman made the move to land small forward Otto Porter Jr. from the Wizards in exchange for forwards Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker. Now, the Bulls are without OPJ in the starting five since he’s still only played in nine games so far this season.
The direction of the franchise is not very clear at this point in time, and a recent rash of injuries made the circumstances so much worse. Hopefully this Bulls team will start to get healthier and healthier once All-Star Weekend is over.
