2. Coby White, Point Guard

Although he’s had an up and down rookie season, Chicago Bulls point guard Coby White flashed enough potential to where we should be convinced he could have a lengthy career as a quality NBA starter. He hasn’t showed the immediate star potential of Memphis Grizzlies rookie point guard Ja Morant. But Coby is a good core piece of this Bulls rebuild.

The Bulls have a good point guard for their future in White. And he can continue to learn his defensive trade under fellow point guard Kris Dunn. Maybe his offensive game and decision making can blossom while learning under combo guard Tomas Satoransky.

Dunn, Sato, and White do form a pretty solid guard trio for the future of the Bulls. That is if the Bulls hang onto Dunn beyond the 2020 offseason since this is the last year of his rookie contract.

However, White is averaging 11.1 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from three-point land. The steady improvement in White’s numbers over the course of the last two months largely flew under-the-radar, but they are evident.

White is starting to get his three-point shooting percentage above 35 percent, which is a marked sign of progress. His off-ball awareness on defense and communication on that end of the floor entirely looks to be getting much better as the season moves along. His defensive rating is still pretty bad (111), but he does have more than one defensive win share on the season. A good portion of his win share rating was contributed since the turn of the calendar year.
