3. Golden State Warriors
I’ve mentioned the fact that the Chicago Bulls standout shooting guard would be a good fit with the Golden State Warriors before. LaVine would be best served in a role where he is a second or third option as a scorer on offense. The Warriors would be offer him exactly that if he were to be playing at the two or the three alongside the Warriors star duo of Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.
However, the Warriors already made a big splash move to get rid of another talented guard at the 2020 trade deadline. They deal the former Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers young point guard D’Angelo Russell to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the deadline for a return that entailed small forward Andrew Wiggins and a few draft picks.
Maybe the Bulls could pique the interest of the Warriors to land more future draft capital or some of their younger pieces to continue this rebuild. It would be worth it for the Warriors to get a very solid third offensive option or a spark plug off the bench with LaVine. That would be a difficult step down for LaVine given his current scoring role with the Bulls, but this would be a very good team fit.
Even with the D-Lo trade in mind, the Warriors still make for a very good trade partner with the Bulls given each team’s situation at the moment. The Bulls will not be a title contender in all likelihood next year like the Warriors, but the salary matching is pretty easy given the cap sheet of each team.
