At this point, this might be by far the most realistic trade deal of the bunch. Since the Timberwolves were part of the first real domino to fall for the 2020 trade deadline, a move that actually took place on Feb. 4, they could be still building toward a big splash deal with the Warriors. Was the move to send small forward Robert Covington to the Houston Rockets a ploy to pile assets to make a run at D-Lo?
It very well could be.
This is the only trade package of the three for the Chicago Bulls that doesn’t involve them directly getting Russell from Golden State. Instead, the Bulls help the Timberwolves pull off a trade deal with the Warriors to get Wiggins to the Bay Area. He gets to play alongside Klay and Steph and continue his possible rise to prominence.
Meanwhile, the Bulls send their 2021 first round draft pick to the Warriors along with a 2020 first round draft pick from the Timberwolves. This is enough of a motivation for the Warriors to part with a bunch of key pieces that would otherwise be building up the next wave of their backcourt behind Klay and Steph.
What the Bulls get here is a very appealing return from the Warriors and Timberwolves that includes the former Michigan Wolverines guard and 2019 first round GS draft pick Jordan Poole. They pair that with guards Malik Beasley and Josh Okogie from the Timberwolves to have a whole new backcourt to work with in the Windy City.
Beasley goes to the Bulls to push along this trade deal for D-Lo to land in the Twin Cities. He is fresh off the trade from the Denver Nuggets and never even gets the chance to play for the Timberwolves.
