The main goals at hand for the Chicago Bulls entering the 2020 trade deadline should be to continue the progression of the rebuild and stack draft capital.
Less than one week away now from the 2020 NBA trade deadline, the Chicago Bulls are likely to assume the role of sellers. They’ve had an up and down run since the turn of the calendar year, but the injuries along with the unstable confidence in head coach Jim Boylen make it so that the Bulls have no realistic path to the playoffs.
After their latest loss at the hands of the Toronto Raptors on the road on Feb. 2, the Bulls moved their record to 19-33 on the season so far. That puts the Bulls 14-games below .500, which is their lowest mark of the regular season. They now sit more than three games out of the eight seed (Orlando Magic) in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. They’re getting even further behind the Brooklyn Nets as star point guard Kyrie Irving works his way back from injury.
However, the picture is getting clearer and clearer that it seems best and most realistic for the Bulls to try and position themselves well for the 2020 draft lottery. But the Bulls do still have a chance to make the playoffs since they sit in the ninth position in the standings in the East.
Up next for the Bulls ahead of the trade deadline is a battle with rookie sensation Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans later this week. The Bulls have a must-win in that game, and the Pelicans are rolling of late.
Here’s a look into the 2020 trade deadline guide and wish list for the Chicago Bulls as we are less than five days away from the festivities later this week.
