2. Reliable shooting from deep is hard to find at his price tag

Boylen is having the Chicago Bulls chuck up a lot more attempts from beyond the arc this season than they did last. But the success still isn’t there yet. That is partly due to the lack of floor spacing that the Bulls are often dealing with. And it is partly due to poor offensive movement and shooting performances from the Bulls usually solid performers like Markkanen and center Luke Kornet.

Valentine is one of the Bulls best three point shooters by a good margin this season. He’s shooting around 55 percent from 16-feet from the rim and beyond. He’s also shooting a tremendous 58 percent between 10-16 feet from the rim. Valentine ranks second on the Bulls in three-point shooting percentage (39.5) among players that played in at least 10 games this season.

The only player that ranks ahead of him on the Bulls in that category is Arcidiacono, who is only shooting .1 percent better from downtown.

Valentine is also the only Bulls player this season that has more than 150 minutes of playing time with no more than one blocked shot. He gets his looks up from efficient spots on the floor, and they often find the hole.

Very few other Bulls players take as many three-point attempts as Valentine and are as successful hitting them. Kornet is the only other player on this team that has at least a 61 percent three-point attempt rate. But Kornet’s three-point shooting percentage is well below 30. Valentine is nearly hitting on 40 percent of his looks from three-point range while taking them at a higher frequency.
