Pulling off a trade deal that could add frontcourt depth for the Chicago Bulls would be a great move at this point in time. The Bulls are now without the services of second-year center Wendell Carter Jr., rookie big man Daniel Gafford, and power forward Lauri Markkanen likely for the rest of the month of January.
If the Bulls could find a way to bolster their frontcourt rotation for head coach Jim Boylen, then it would definitely be a move worth pulling off. The Bulls would be lucky to get their hands on a player like Kings center Dewayne Dedmon if he commanded a lower price tag in return. It does seem like the Kings are selling low on Dedmon at the moment, though.
Dedmon is a center that can space the floor on offense and protect the rim on defense. He could be a better fit for the Bulls first or second unit too than former New York Knicks center Luke Kornet. And Boylen wouldn’t be forced to play Kornet so often if he had a big man like Dedmon in the rotation.
The other piece that the Bulls get here from the Kings is former Duke Blue Devils big man Harry Giles. The potential of Giles is still there, but mainly he adds depth at a position of need. What the Bulls send to the Kings is the veteran power forward Thaddeus Young, who matches salaries almost perfectly in this trade package. Young is maybe in the midst of the most rumors of any Bulls player at this point in time.
