The basic trade idea that goes down between the Chicago Bulls and Clippers since the rumor first emerged with the connection between these two teams is Young for small forward Maurice Harkless. But the Bulls need something back in return if they’re going to throw in a true defensive stopper like Dunn.
In this addition to that trade framework, the Clippers send the Bulls the second-year former North Carolina Tar Heels shooting guard Jerome Robinson. So far, it looks as if the Clippers just aren’t the right fit for Robinson. He needs a change of scenery about as much as any 2018 NBA Draft lottery selection at this point.
The salary matching still works if Robinson for Dunn is thrown into the mix. The Clippers won’t get pushed too far into the luxury tax in this trade deal, but the Bulls also get a lot of value in return. Robinson is a good shooter when he’s on, his decision making and offensive rhythm just need to get more consistent.
And Harkless adds that sought after wing depth that Boylen and the Bulls so desperately need. The former Portland Trail Blazers small forward has just one year on his current contract too. If he doesn’t work out in the Windy City, then the Bulls can let him walk right into free agency without too much cause for concern.
