1. What direction is GarPax headed?
A Chicago Bulls team that has a lack of direction by the end of the 2019-20 regular season should see changes in the franchise from the top-down. GarPax should see shakeups along with the rest of the front office personnel, and on down to the coaching staff (namely the unpopular and often criticized Boylen).
However, it looked as if the Bulls were trying to make the playoffs this season. But weird roster construction and player usage shake up the confidence that the fans have in what this team can do in a still rather weak Eastern Conference. A welcome sight would be the Bulls having a new front office setup heading into the 2020-21 regular season.
If there is a fourth year of the rebuild, then it’s hard to know if there will be any patience left for GarPax from this fan base. This really should be the last rebuild that the Reinsdorfs allow Paxson to undertake. Using shooting guard Zach LaVine as the prominent face of the franchise is not where anyone expected the Bulls to be at this point of the rebuild.
Could this rebuild be shifted enough at the 2020 trade deadline that a key cornerstone of the franchise is dealt?
If that move involves sending out LaVine for the right return or power forward Lauri Markkanen is sent to a place where he could be more successful, then it could be good for the Bulls. But that would be a big risk that GarPax might not be comfortable with.
