Names to watch

The Chicago Bulls have a lot of trade chips that could be on the table in various discussions, especially if they become sellers at the deadline. The third year of this rebuild isn’t showing the signs of progress needed in the back half of the 2019-20 regular season.

Really the only two names that shouldn’t be frequently mentioned in trade talks for the Bulls at the deadline are second-year center Wendell Carter Jr. and rookie point guard Coby White. Fellow rookie and former Arkansas Razorbacks big man Daniel Gafford also shouldn’t be in the midst of a lot of trade discussions.

Anyhow, here’s the other names to watch among Bulls players at the trade deadline.

Kris Dunn, Point Guard

Heading into the regular season, Dunn was the hottest name that was tossed around in trade discussions among any Bulls player. But his solid play on the defensive end of the floor so far this season, including leading the NBA in steals most of the way, helped to increase his trade value. Dunn sits in the midst of a contract year.

Tomas Satoransky, Combo Guard

The two final names among the honorable mentions on this part of the list are both former Washington Wizards. The first is the 6-foot-7 guard Tomas Satoransky, who is having a decent year in his inaugural season in a Bulls uniform. Any team that needs length on the perimeter or backcourt depth help could use Sato.

Otto Porter Jr., Small Forward

Now mostly becoming an afterthought, at least until he returns from injury, small forward Otto Porter Jr. won’t command as much of a price tag on the trade market as he used to. His foot fracture limited him to just nine games played so far this season. But the fact that he’s the most expensive contract on the Bulls books could make him a key figure in salary matching discussions if there happens to be a big splash deal made.
