1. Tomas Satoransky, Guard
Likely the most steady and productive of the three major free agent signings from last offseason for the Chicago Bulls at the halfway mark of the 2019-20 regular season is the former Washington Wizards lengthy guard Tomas Satoransky. He is a good fit with the Bulls, but might be moved before the 2020 trade deadline along with Young.
Cast in more of a combo guard role this season with the Bulls, Satoransky is about the best fit for Boylen’s multi-ball handler system out of any of the new acquisitions from last summer. Sato can at least function as a spot-up three-point shooter and run more efficiently in transition than really any other player on this team, possibly barring shooting guard Zach LaVine.
So far this season, Sato is averaging 10.1 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists, while shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from beyond the arc. His three-point shooting numbers are down of late. He needs to get more open looks when LaVine and power forward Lauri Markkanen are creating space for the rest of their teammates.
When the Bulls originally pulled the trigger on the sign-and-trade deal with the Wizards to land Sato, it looked to be a great value move. And he’s about the most consistent of the free agent signings on this list for the Bulls. He’s getting more and more confident and facilitating this offense better as the season moves along. Sato is also still on a good value contract for three-years, with $25 million total guaranteed.
