It would not make much sense for the Chicago Bulls to entertain the idea of trading for the Detroit Pistons powerful center Andre Drummond this year.

One of the hottest names in the NBA entering the 2020 trade deadline is the Detroit Pistons breakthrough center Andre Drummond. The 26-year-old 6-foot-10 and 280 pound towering and strong big man is having a career season and should be an All-Star selection for the third-time in his NBA years. But should a team like the Chicago Bulls go after him ahead of the 2020 trade deadline?

The Bulls sit with a record of 14-27 at the halfway mark of the 2019-20 regular season. Clearly if the Bulls want to actually make a run at the NBA Playoffs, then they will need a big boost down the stretch. There can’t be a trade made by John Paxson and Gar Forman that gives this team a slight uptick in their production.

There would have to be a big splash move, or head coach Jim Boylen would have to have this team completely healthy and efficient down the stretch. The forward and center positions can’t seem to keep healthy once again for the Bulls this season.

Former Washington Wizards small forward Otto Porter Jr. was the big splash move that the Bulls front office made last season. GarPax traded the young forward duo of Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker for a return that included OPJ from the Wizards. That looked to a be a good move at the time for the Bulls, but OPJ hasn’t been healthy in all but nine games so far this season.

However, with the Bulls sitting around five games out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference at the halfway mark it doesn’t look to be worth it to dump a lot of assets into a player in a contract year like Drummond.

Here’s a look into three reasons why the Chicago Bulls should completely avoid trading the Detroit Pistons for center Andre Drummond.
