Chicago Bulls: 3 players that could be worth 10-day contracts
2. Henry Ellenson, Power Forward
Current Team: Free Agent
There were a handful of former Chicago Bulls players that were sitting in the midst of the 10-day contract deadline transactions of the Eastern Conference foe Brooklyn Nets of late. One of those is former Bulls wing David Nwaba, who was waived earlier this week after he tore his Achilles, making him miss the rest of the season.
Another former Bulls wing that is in the midst of a contract decision with the Nets is the former first round draft pick of the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2016 NBA Draft, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. Last season, Luwawu-Cabarrot was one of those G-League level players that was on the Bulls roster under Boylen that was also an acquisition of one of the team’s cash considerations trades.
A fellow former first round 2016 NBA Draft pick (of the Detroit Pistons) that has yet to get a chance to shine with the Bulls is the 6-foot-10 power forward Henry Ellenson. A lot of promise still lies with Ellenson if he can find the right home, and he was just waived by the Nets. If the Bulls can get him to learn under third-year power forward Lauri Markkanen, he could finally start a path to success in this league.
The NBA production of Ellenson thus far in 81 games played leaves a lot to be desired. He’s averaging 4.0 points per game, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.2 assists, while shooting 37.2 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from beyond the arc in those 81 games played in the NBA. He’s spent three seasons with the Pistons, and parts of one each with the Nets and New York Knicks.
