A solid turnout for the fan voting so far for Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine sees him and Derrick Rose in the top five in the East so far.
The 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend is hosted at the home of the Chicago Bulls this year, at the United Center. And the Bulls are hoping that one main rising star can get his name into the ring to potentially be a reserve guard in the 2020 All-Star Game. Since the Bulls are hosting this year’s All-Star Game in the Windy City, it could really help out the chance of shooting guard Zach LaVine to get his first career nod.
However, on Jan. 2 the first major update to the 2020 NBA All-Star vote was released to the public. The vote is still open to all fans, but the favorites for who will represent each conference are starting to come about. All Bulls fans can still cast their votes for who they want to see in the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend.
In relevance to the Bulls, two names stick out among the leaders in the All-Star vote. The first is LaVine, who ranks fifth among guards in the Eastern Conference in fan voting so far. He was pretty far behind the fourth place guard in fan voting, former Bulls superstar and MVP winner Derrick Rose.
Another significant name among the forwards and centers in the East that is a former Bull is the Miami Heat star small forward Jimmy Butler. He sits fourth in the voting among forwards and centers, just behind the Toronto Raptors breakthrough star Pascal Siakam.
The leader in the guard voting was a bit surprising in the East. Atlanta Hawks second-year point guard Trae Young ranked just ahead of the Brooklyn Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving in the guard voting. Milwaukee Bucks reigning MVP forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the leader in voting on the other side of the table.
If LaVine continues to come up big for the Bulls leading up to All-Star Weekend, last he has within the last month and a half, then he will keep gaining ground on the rest of the guards in the top five in the fan vote. He’s averaging around 23.5 points per game, 4.6 rebounds, and four assists, while shooting around 43 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range.
