Maybe the most confusing saga of any trade deal that the Chicago Bulls pulled off on this list involved sending former second round pick and 6-foot-9 big man Cameron Bairstow to the divisional foe Detroit Pistons. What the Bulls got in return was a point guard that both teams involved in the exchanged tremendously undervalued.

Former Pistons and Bulls point guard Spencer Dinwiddie was the return in this trade deal, but he never really found traction in the Windy City. The former second round 2014 NBA Draft pick of the Pistons, No. 38 overall, was dished out just two years after jumping to the next level. He floated around the G-League and had various Las Vegas NBA Summer League stints in the Bulls and Pistons organizations.

The Bulls only kept Dinwiddie around for less than four months before he was waived and picked up be the Brooklyn Nets. He only played in 46 games in his two seasons with the Pistons, none with the Bulls, and has now played in 239 with the Nets. He’s also started in just over 100 of the 239 games he’s played in Brooklyn.

However, this was just a case of undervaluing a very potent point guard that is valuable in almost any NBA rotation. Dinwiddie is truly breaking through with the Nets this season, averaging 23.0 points per game, 6.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds.

All in all, this trade deal is so far up on this list due to the player that the Bulls could’ve landed. They didn’t make the best use out of him, but hindsight can always be 20/20. GarPax didn’t have to give up much either, with Bairstow never playing in a single game with the Pistons.
