The idea of the Chicago Bulls trading the New Orleans Pelicans to land the 29-year-old 6-foot-3 veteran point guard Jrue Holiday is one that was floated for a while now. Could the Bulls make the move to bring Jrue into the same division as his other two brothers on the Indiana Pacers (Aaron and Justin).
The Pelicans could have four key guards all on the trade block heading into the 2020 deadline. Holiday would be the most significant of the four, but the three others could draw a lot of attention too. The other three would include veteran shooting guard J.J. Redick, former Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, and fellow former Laker and shooting guard Josh Hart.
Last offseason, it seemed like the Bulls front office made it a priority to land a veteran point guard to turn this franchise around for the future. Dunn’s time as the face of this franchise at the one looks to be over, even with his solid newfound role as a defensive stopper this season. Holiday would be about the best the Bulls could do at the moment in terms of guards on the trade block.
So far this season, Holiday is averaging 19.7 points per game, 6.5 assists, and 5.1 rebounds, while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from beyond the arc. Holiday is usually a better three-point shooter than his percentage shows this season (usually around 35 or 36 percent from dowtown throughout his NBA career), but he’s not far off that mark early on this season.
