The focus of the Chicago Bulls front office and scouts should partly be on building a strategy and pecking order for the 2020 NBA Draft class.

If the Chicago Bulls continue to lose games that they should be winning, like the fourth quarter letdown on Dec. 23 at the hands of the 13-17 Orlando Magic, then they will have to look forward to building through the NBA Draft again. The 2020 NBA Draft is a deeper class at guard than it was last offseason. But the main positional need head coach Jim Boylen and the Bulls need to fill next offseason (wing depth) is rather thin in this 2020 NBA Draft class.

However, now that we’re in the midst of the college basketball regular season, the Bulls front office and scouting staff needs to start configuring a plan for who to select come next June. The Bulls had former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White fall into their laps at No. 7 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, but there might not be such an obvious pick next summer.

The Bulls also got a nice value pick in the second round of the 2019 draft, with former Arkansas Razorbacks big man Daniel Gafford, at No. 38 overall. Deeper scouting could get the Bulls a similar nice haul for the 2020 NBA Draft, especially if they keep both their picks. John Paxson and Gar Forman were bashed for a while for always undervaluing second round draft picks.

At least the Bulls found a potential gem in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft in Gafford.

It will be interesting to see how the 2020 draft class pans out for the rest of the 2019-20 NBA season.

Here’s a look into the four 2020 NBA Draft prospects that are trending up that the Chicago Bulls should be keying in on heading into the New Year.
