8. Malcolm Brogdon, Point Guard

Team: Phoenix Suns

Original Draft Slot: 36

There’s a lot of solid point guards that will continue to make an impact around the NBA that were great value picks in the 2016 NBA Draft. One of those that emerged more than a year ago is the Pacers 27-year-old former Virginia Cavaliers guard Malcolm Brogdon.

The Milwaukee Bucks originally selected Brogdon with the No. 36 overall pick in the second round of the 2016 draft. He was a top value pick, and possibly the best second rounder to go in this draft. He’s also having a career year in his first season with the Pacers while averaging 18.3 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.6 assists.

This is a great pick for the Phoenix Suns, who really needed a point guard at the time.

9. Fred VanFleet, Point Guard

Team: Toronto Raptors

Original Draft Slot: Undrafted

It’s ironic how the Raptors still manage to get the former Wichita State Shockers point guard, and defending NBA Champion, Fred VanFleet with the ninth overall pick in this re-draft. VanFleet is turning into a consistent premier starting point guard in the East after breaking through in the playoffs last season.

The 2016 undrafted class of rookies is actually one of the more impressive in the NBA at this point in time. VanFleet is the highlighting player of that undrafted class of players from 2016. He is averaging 17.6 points per game, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.8 assists, helping his team to 2.6 win shares this season.
