This is a nice trade package idea for all parties, since everyone gets something they need for the future. The role for the Chicago Bulls here is adding to their wing depth, by snagging 6-foot-8 shooting guard/small forward Rodney Hood. And they send out point guard Kris Dunn to help the defense of one of the receiving parties in this deal.
The Cavaliers could realistically try to trade the Portland Trail Blazers, utilizing either of their two star big men. Love is the obvious match since he’s an Oregon native and he brings that veteran scoring presence and he can also space the floor as a stretch-big man. But center Tristan Thompson could also be hitting the trade block soon and be a name that the Blazers are interested in.
Thompson is a more versatile center than the former Miami Heat shot-blocking big man Hassan Whiteside. But the salary dump the Blazers would need to pull off in a package like this would invovle sending out Whiteside. Granted Whiteside is actually having a big bounce back season with the Blazers so far (15.4 points per game, 12.5 rebounds, and 24.6 player efficiency rating).
Moreover, three of the potential landing spot ideas that Wojnarowski mentioned with this trade rumors involving K-Love were the Blazers, Boston Celtics, and Denver Nuggets. It does make sense for the Bulls to jump into these trade discussions to add to their wing depth and bolster their outside shooting. This also helps the Blazers land Love from the Cavaliers.
