This is more of a trade idea if the Chicago Bulls are ready to blow it all up and start moving in a brand new direction in the third year of this rebuild. A trade package like this should also involve blowing up the franchise from the top-down. From Michael Reinsdorf and GarPax, all the way down to Boylen, a lot would have to change with this Bulls organization.
Here the Bulls do get to blow everything up by trading third-year power forward Lauri Markkanen to the Cavaliers to get a return that includes a future first round draft pick, Love, and 26-year-old power forward Larry Nance Jr. Love and Nance Jr. are going to be more experienced than OPJ and Markkanen, but they could also move the Bulls into playoff contention faster.
What the Bulls also throw into the mix here to help the Cavaliers move the deal along is fourth-year shooting guard Denzel Valentine. Off to a solid start this season with his outside shooting, Valentine brings another young piece to the table that could help bolster the depth at the two-guard for the Cavaliers.
Pulling off this trade package completely hangs on how the Bulls want to to move in the midst of all of Markkanen’s struggles so far this season. Love and Nance Jr. both have much better player efficiency ratings than Markkanen this season, and would make an immediate impact. Hopefully this would involve a completely new-look (and more functional) Bulls franchise.
