4. Dante Cunningham, Forward

Current Team: Free agent

There’s not a whole lot left for the Chicago Bulls to target on the free agent market at the moment, but there is one option that sticks out. The Bulls could really knock out two birds with one stone by signing the former San Antonio Spurs small forward/power forward Dante Cunningham. He is one of the better overall free agents left in the NBA.

The 6-foot-8 32-year-old forward could help plug the hole that the Bulls have at the three spot with all the injuries to their small forwards. Cunningham can operate as an oversized wing, and he could help out the Bulls rebounding woes when they put three or four guards on the floor at the same time. Like I said before, part of that rotation-building is Boylen’s fault.

However, Cunningham did shoot better than 47 percent from the field last season and 46.2 percent from three-point range. He’d be a reliable shooter in spots for the Bulls. And he can also add a depth piece behind the player that should be the Bulls sixth man at this point, forward Thaddeus Young.

Cunningham and Young would largely fill the same role, but getting minutes to both in the place of the four point guards that Boylen is playing so often would be for the Bulls benefit. Cunningham could be brought in on a cheap one-year minimum deal and provide another veteran presence in this young Bulls locker room.
