If the Chicago Bulls were to hit the trade market or free agency to improve their shooting, among other needs, who would be four good targets?
In the midst of all the struggles for the Chicago Bulls this season, there’s a few stats that stick out among the rest. Mainly, the offensive rating the Bulls are posting combined with poor shooting numbers produced the bad product we saw on the court through 21 games.
Part of the blame for the lack of offensive rhythm should fall on head coach Jim Boylen. And the rest of that should go to the poor shooting and floor spacing from the players that are supposed to be the Bulls best shooters. For example, third year power forward Lauri Markkanen is shooting less than 30 percent from beyond the arc and around 35 percent from the field.
Volume scoring presences from the Bulls guards, like rookie Coby White and shooting guard Zach LaVine, can hamper the Bulls overall shooting efficiency at times too. If the Bulls are to improve their shooting efficiency overall this season, it will have to be by way of finding better spot-up shooters that are going to hit on their open looks more often.
The Bulls just have too many players that are missing open shots right now. Shooting just 42.5 percent from the field (good for 29th in the NBA) isn’t going to cut it. They are shooting a bit better comparatively to the rest of the NBA from three-point range, 35.4 percent (22nd in the league).
If the Bulls are to improve their shooting numbers this season, two could happen. First is players like Markkanen break out of the shooting slump. And second, the Bulls could make a trade or sort through what’s left on the free agent market.
Here’s a look into the four players that the Chicago Bulls could sign or trade for to improve their shooting this season.
