2. All the guard-heavy lineups

The point that the Chicago Bulls should be giving Young more playing time this season builds into this part of the list. Boylen and the Bulls are seeing entirely too many guards in the lineup, especially when he starts working deeper down the bench. The Bulls just have too much trouble in the rebounding and perimeter shooting departments when they can’t matchup size-wise.

And it’s not just guards overall that are the problem for the Bulls. There are too many point guards getting minutes night in and night out for the Bulls. Kris Dunn and Ryan Arcidiacono are actually getting matchups with small forwards and bigger two guards that they clearly can’t handle. The fact that Boylen was fine with Dunn and Arcidiacono trying to guard Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in significant minutes down the stretch shows his lack of planning.

Moreover, four of the eight Bulls players that have the most minutes on the floor total this season are all point guards. Dunn and Arcidiacono just don’t need to be seeing this much time on the floor. Coby White‘s role in this rotation should also be re-configured. Tomas Satoransky should be getting more usage on offense, so his minutes are fine. And he’s regularly in the starting five.

Again, I get it that the Bulls have to play more guard minutes in the absence of small forwards Chandler Hutchison and Otto Porter Jr. But more playing time should be going to actual two-guards like Zach LaVine and Denzel Valentine on the wing instead of Dunn or Arcidiacono.
