The end of the bench

Fixing the distribution of minutes for the Chicago Bulls deeper down the bench is a big key to Boylen matching up against the better teams he faces in the near future in more suitable fashion. The Bulls don’t have that difficult of a schedule ahead in early December, but that narrative will change once we draw closer to Christmas.

Yet, here’s a look at how Boylen and the Bulls should be distributing the minutes and ordering the roles at the bottom of the rotation.

Players that don’t have much of a role

There’s two players that stick out among those who shouldn’t be getting all that much playing time when the Bulls are playing at a high level. The unfortunate part about that is that one of them is a recent free agent signing of the Bulls, former New York Knicks center Luke Kornet. The other is currently being held out due to injury, fellow big man Cristiano Felicio.

Situational players that should still see the floor

The next three players up for the Bulls that should still be seeing decent minutes are as follows: shooting guard Denzel Valentine (5-6 minutes), rookie center Daniel Gafford (5-6 minutes), and point guard Ryan Arcidiacono (6-8 minutes).

The core part of the rotation off the bench

This leaves three players that the Bulls, either out of raw talent and purpose or positional need, should be playing more so than the aforementioned five guys. As far as the guards go, rookie Coby White and the defensive standout Shaquille Harrison should each be seeing in the low double-digits in terms of minutes per night.

Among the forwards, Chandler Hutchison is about it that (at least before the top seven men in the rotation) should be seeing double-digit minutes on the floor per game out of pure positional need.
