7. Coby White

Previous ranking: 7

Coby White has had an interesting start to his rookie season. He’s come off the bench in all 20 of the Bulls’ contests and has provided a nice scoring boost to an offensively stale bench unit.

When the Bulls drafted White, I thought they’d be using him where he’s best — at the point guard spot. Instead, they’ve been using him as a Jamal Crawford archetype. It’s not like he’s bad as the microwave plug-and-play scorer, but that’s definitely not where his ceiling is the highest.

I’d like to see him bringing up the ball and running the offense more. He should get a healthy dose of pick-and-roll opportunities with either Wendell Carter Jr. or Lauri Markkanen setting screens. If he’s playing with the second unit, then Daniel Gafford can be the screen setter and Coby can help him get some looks around the rim.

Jim Boylen and Co. are doing Coby White a disservice by using him in his current role. Something needs to change.
