There is a dynamic guard duo that really emerged out of the 2018 NBA Draft early in the 2019-20 regular season. The top guard among that duo has to be considered the Dallas Mavericks MVP contending 6-foot-7 point guard Luka Doncic. There wouldn’t be a doubt in anyone’s mind that if the Phoenix Suns got a chance to pick over again at the top of this draft that they would go with Luka.

The Suns originally selected the former Arizona Wildcats skilled 7-foot center DeAndre Ayton with the first overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Instead, they could get a point guard that would taking them to new heights this season. And they would be able to snag a good big man out of a deep free agent class that was last summer.

So far this season, Luka is a triple-double machine and is leading the NBA in player efficiency rating (32.9). He’s averaging 30.8 points per game, 9.9 rebounds, and 9.6 assists. And he’s efficient from the field while doing so. He’s shooting better than 48 percent from the field and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Moreover, the only area that Doncic could really improve this season is his three-point shooting. He’s shooting 32.5 percent from beyond the arc, which is actually 0.2 percent down from his clip during his rookie season.

But there shouldn’t be many complaints coming from any team that would have the chance at snagging Luka in a re-draft. He is the top pick without question in this scenario for the Suns.
