It’s Thanksgiving, and that means it’s time to look at the Chicago Bulls through a positive filter. Here are five things Bulls fans can be thankful for in 2019.

Happy Thanksgiving, Chicago Bulls fans!

After an embarrassing start to the 2019-20 season and an even more embarrassing loss in San Francisco last night, it’s tough to find reasons to be thankful as a Bulls fan. But what the heck, let’s give it our best shot. Here are five things to be thankful for as a Windy City fan in 2019.

5. Wendell Carter Jr. stepping up

Zach LaVine has been disappointing this season. Lauri Markkanen has been gut-wrenching to watch. Jim Boylen doesn’t look like he belongs in the NBA as a head coach. Thaddeus Young looks… washed? Or maybe just bad? Either way, he hasn’t been a bright spot for the Bulls. Wendell Carter Jr. is quietly putting together a nice individual season, though.

Carter has looked fantastic on both offense and defense, and he seems like the only true vocal leader on this roster. He needs more touches, and he needs to stay out of foul trouble, but the sky is the limit for Wendell. I’m thankful for his progression as an NBA player.

4. Coby White’s hair

Speaking of fantastic individuals, Coby White has been fun in 2019. What’s even more fun than his game, though, is his hair.

Every time Coby dribbles the ball or attacks the basket, his beautiful hair bounces around uncontrollably and it’s an absolute joy to watch. Bulls fans might not get to watch good basketball, but at least they get to watch good hair.

3. Nearing the end of Jim Boylen… maybe?

It’s difficult to trust the Bulls’ front office to make correct decisions, but I’m hoping last night’s embarrassing loss to the Warriors will push them in the right direction. The right direction is firing Jim Boylen.

Bulls fans have seen more than enough from Boylen to know that he’s not the guy to lead Chicago’s young roster.

Hopefully, this is the last Thanksgiving Bulls fans will have with Boylen as the head coach of their favorite team. That counts as something to be thankful for, right?

2. No 56-point losses!

On December 8, 2018, the Bulls lost by 56 points (56 points!) at home to the Boston Celtics. Guess what hasn’t happened in 2019.

(Waiting…)

(Waiting…)

You guessed it! The Bulls have not, I repeat, have not lost a home game by 56 points in 2019. In fact, they haven’t lost any games by 56 points in 2019. I’m thankful for that.

1. Zach LaVine’s bunnies

We watch basketball to have fun. There might be other underlying reasons as to why we consume the sport like we do, but the basis of our desire to watch guys run around throwing a ball in the hoop is because it’s fun.

The most fun thing to watch is your team winning. There’s nothing like that feeling. But watching individuals do crazy things that ordinary humans can only dream of doing is the next best thing. No one in the NBA does that better than Zach LaVine.

He’s an athletic marvel, gifting us with shock and awe every time he jumps off the court. It’s immensely fun to watch.

Thanks, Zach.

Hopefully, 2020 leaves Bulls fans with a lot more to be thankful for.
