25. Wendell Moore Jr., Small Forward
Current Team: Duke
Here we go from an oversized point/combo guard in Dosunmu to a somewhat undersized but still ultra-bouncy wing in the sensational Duke freshman small forward Wendell Moore Jr. The 6-foot-6 and 215 pound wing Moore does bring a wingspan to the table just north of 6-foot-10.5. That is going to come in handy at the next level.
However, the NBA Draft 2020 stock that Moore carries will largely hinge on how well he’s able to round out his offensive game. Beyond solid spot up shooting at times and hitting the offensive glass hard, there’s not much value that Moore brings with him on that end of the floor. In fact, he’s only attempted two three-pointers and didn’t drain either of them.
It doesn’t help that he’s shooting just 37.9 percent from the field this season.
The value that Moore brings to this draft class is firmly highlighted by his 7.1 defensive box plus/minus rating compared to an abysmal -4.3 offensive box plus/minus rating. And the crazy part about that rating discrepancy is that he’s not off to the most solid start defensively for Duke this season.
Monitor the offensive progress for Moore this season and hope that he gets away from having the same floor and bust potential as another former Duke small forward product that was very hyped up, with Cam Reddish of the Atlanta Hawks.
At least there is a situational defensive role that Moore would slot into right away in the NBA.
