30. Amar Sylla, Power Forward

Current Team: Oostende (Senegal)

We’ll start this list off with an NBA Draft 2020 prospect from overseas. A potential late riser for this draft class could be the 18-year-old 6-foot-9 power forward from Senegal, Amar Sylla. Keep an eye on this prospect, as he could have one of the most volatile draft stocks in this class (for better or worse).

As one of the project prospects in this draft class, Sylla could have a very volatile stock as we move closer to June 2020. A versatile offensive skill set could be the calling card of Sylla come to the 2020 NBA Draft. But he’ll need to put in a lot of work to prove that he could ever become a proficient two-way forward at the top level of play.

Last year, we saw the stock of French 6-foot-9 forward Sekou Doumbouya rise just before the offseason. He wound up getting selected in the teens by the Detroit Pistons in the 2019 draft. A common similarity between Sekou and Amar in their draft profiles will be their slashing abilities. The large frame of Sylla combined with fluid movement while driving makes for a clear lane to the basket.

If Sylla can iron out his decision making and shot selection consistently, he could turn into a star in the NBA. But that’s always a big risk when taking a flier out on a top international prospect that is as young as Sylla. He’ll be one of the most inexperienced players in this draft class that could fall in the latter half of the first round.
