6. Josh Green, Shooting Guard
Current Team: Arizona
Arizona has a lot going for them in their starting backcourt. Between Mannion and freshman shooting guard Josh Green, the Wildcats managed to assemble themselves a championship caliber guard combo. Maybe this could be the season where Arizona finally gets over the hump, led by the efforts of Green and Mannion.
What Green brings to the table that sets him apart from Mannion is a more stout defensive ability and more gifted physical tools. Green is a solid athlete at 6-foot-6 that could turn into one of the better perimeter defenders among the two guards in this draft class. His quick first step combines with a good level of shot creation to form one of the most self-sufficient offensive shooting guards in this draft class too.
Green doesn’t have the most efficient three-point shot in the country, but it is good enough to make opposing defenders respect it and add to his offensive arsenal. He’s shooting just 33.3 percent from three-point range, and not an overwhelming impressive clip from the field either.
There is a shortage of two guards in the NBA that bring a skill set to the table that should make for a high floor as a lottery pick like Green. He should be one of the safer picks in this draft class, and combine that with a good start to the season and Green should be considered a consensus top 10 prospect at this point for the NBA Draft 2020.
