3. Minnesota Timberwolves
Two teams that were down in the dumps for the past three seasons included the Chicago Bulls and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Constant poor personnel decisions got the Timberwolves to where they are now. You can’t really blame the coaching on this one.
It’s weird how the blockbuster trade back in 2017 between the Bulls and the Timberwolves didn’t really work out for either side. The Bulls sent star small forward Jimmy Butler to the Timberwolves for a return that essentially included point guard Kris Dunn, shooting guard Zach LaVine, and power forward Lauri Markkanen.
Over the years, the Timberwolves also made a number of bad moves that got them to where they are today. This organization is very lucky that superstar big man Karl-Anthony Towns took the strides he did in the last two seasons. The Timberwolves could very well have an MVP contender on their hands with KAT this season.
However, the Timberwolves didn’t have good luck with the “Jimmy Buckets” trade from two years ago, as he was dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers less one full season later. They didn’t even get to the playoffs thanks to that trade. President of basketball operations Gersson Rosas and general manager Scott Layden didn’t have a very good roster lined up for this season, and giving the former first overall pick and small forward Andrew Wiggins a max contract is about their worst look.
