Filling that highly sought after positional need of wing depth for the Chicago Bulls could be accomplished by nabbing a piece like the Louisville Cardinals freshman sensation shooting guard/small forward Samuell Williamson.
Unlike a lot of the players on this list before him, the 6-foot-7 and 190 pound Williamson should be a projected late lottery pick, or mid-first round selection at the least. He’s just too long and too good of a shooter not to be drafted that high. As long as his on-ball defending continues to hold strong, he’ll get a lot of recognition for his skill set on that end of the floor.
The three-and-D wing need that so many NBA teams desire each passing year is a role that Williamson could fill pretty quick and the next level. And the lack of wing depth overall in this draft class could help Williamson’s case of getting selected in the lottery.
In his debut with Louisville this season, Williamson posted 13 points and five rebounds. He shot 5-of-8 from the field and hit his only attempt from three-point range. He should be a solid shooter throughout his freshman campaign.
What does leave something to be desired for Williamson is his distributing ability and off-ball awareness on defense. He’ll have to work on that as the college basketball season moves along in order to keep his draft stock high.
