Chicago Bulls: 10 prospects to watch during 2019-20 college hoops season
Once again, if the Chicago Bulls are looking to plug the need for backcourt help, at least with the down play from the current guards at the outset of the regular season, then a good candidate for next year’s draft could be the Kentucky Wildcats standout freshman combo guard Tyrese Maxey.
Kentucky is off to a good start this season, and Maxey is averaging around 17.5 points per game, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. The assist numbers would be good to get up, but Maxey can’t be too disappointed with his offensive output thus far. He also has an innate ability to frequently get to the free-throw line which will be one of his bigger benefactors.
Already getting a taste of the big stage in the season opener against Michigan State, Maxey should only go up from here. His length and insane physical tools are going to play to his benefit throughout the rest of his freshman season.
The one issue that will keep arising for Maxey is his lack of outside shooting ability. That would be what would keep the Bulls from drafting him if they need to pickup a combo guard in the draft when it’s all said and done. Maxey is shooting just 30 percent from three-point range thus far. That has to improve from here on out.
