Chicago Bulls: 10 prospects to watch during 2019-20 college hoops season
The Florida Gators should be a force to be reckoned with throughout the 2019-20 season, and that is partly thanks to the presence of freshman sensation and wing Scottie Lewis. Florida entered the regular season with the No. 6 ranking in the preseason AP Poll. But that ranking may drop a significant amount since the Gators fell short against the in-state rival Florida State Seminoles on Nov. 10.
That is the type of result that might start to fade down the stretch as this young and talented team begins to mesh better. But Lewis has to be better than he was in this outing against Florida State. He managed just four points off the bench, and all of those came from the charity stripe. He went 0-of-4 from the field.
The performance in the season opener wasn’t that much better from Lewis. He posted nine points and five boards in Florida’s season opener. Lewis is much better than his numbers would indicate so far. Give him time to adjust to this pace of play and talented supporting cast, and Lewis could blossom in due time.
All in all, the 6-foot-7 ultra-athletic wing has the physical tools that could make him a very good player at the next level. He’s an intriguing fit with head coach Jim Boylen and the Bulls to bring a necessary spark on both ends of the floor. But he clearly has to work on his shooting before there’s going to be too much NBA Draft surrounding him.
