3. David Blatt

Current Position: Olympiacos (Greece)

Head Coaching Record: 83-40

The brief coaching stint that former Cavaliers head coach David Blatt had in the NBA was about as successful as it gets before getting fired thanks to superstar forward LeBron James in just under two seasons. This would be a good and safe route for GarPax to jolt this franchise to new heights in the coming years.

Blatt led the Cavaliers to an Eastern Conference Championship in 2015 and was let go after 41 games in the 2015-16 season. When he departed from the NBA coaching ranks in 2016, Blatt had a record of 30-11 through those 41 games with the Cavaliers. He just didn’t have the chemistry with those fiery personalities that the next head coach in Cleveland had (Tyronn Lue).

However, if the Chicago Bulls wanted to take a more reserved and conservative approach to landing a head coach from the EuroLeague ranks, then Blatt would be the way to go. Blatt has proven NBA success, and his offense is consistent and reliable. It also fits the modern style of play in the NBA good enough for the Bulls to thrive in the right circumstances.

Blatt is currently coaching back in EuroLeague with Olympiacos. He didn’t return to the NBA since he left the Cavaliers in 2016. But the idea of him returning to the NBA coaching ranks doesn’t usually go away each passing offseason.

Who might be the next team to jump into the conversation about landing Blatt as their head coach?
