10. Jason Kidd

Current Position: Los Angeles Lakers assistant

Head Coaching Record: 183-190

If the Chicago Bulls were to really think outside the box, then the former star point guard Jason Kidd could’ve been a good option. Kidd was a head coach for two different NBA teams for a total of five seasons before he landed his most recent position. He at least brings enough coaching experience to the table, and enough success, to where he could be trusted more than Boylen.

Moreover, Kidd was a candidate to land the head coaching job with the Lakers when it was vacant over the offseason. But the former Indiana Pacers head coach Frank Vogel wound up landing that position. Vogel at least seemed like a better coaching candidate to find stability in the Lakers locker room than the energetic and charismatic Kidd.

The two stints for Kidd as a head coach in the NBA were with the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks. He started with the Nets back during the 2013-14 season. The Nets made it all way to the second round of the playoffs, with a pretty mediocre roster, back in 2014. That was a testament to Kidd’s coaching abilities when he’s on.

While Kidd was coaching in Milwaukee, he was mostly treading water. He did get the Bucks to the playoffs twice in his four seasons with the franchise, but went first round and out on both occasions. That warranted his departure which bridged his assistant coaching position that he landed with the Lakers, which is where he currently sits at.
