Although New Orleans is very unlikely to finish with a poor enough record to land him, Anthony Edwards would be an unbelievably perfect addition to the Pelicans’ young core. With a lineup of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and Jaxson Hayes, the Pelicans only seem to be missing a two guard and would have the opportunity to select the consensus best in the draft with their first round pick.
Edwards stands at 6-foot-5 and is a very heavy for his height, weighing in at 215 pounds. A pure scorer, Edwards can simply beat you in any way on the offensive end. He is able to score the basketball from all three levels, with the three point shot being his most dangerous weapon.
His athleticism is also worth noting, as Edwards is an extremely strong individual who also possesses the ability to play above the rim. He will need to improve his off-ball play, but his shooting stroke makes scouts believe that he should be able to do so.
Even more shocking than Wiseman’s decision to stay home at Memphis, Edwards shocked the college basketball world by deciding to remain in state and attend the University of Georgia.
Without any stars alongside him, Edwards seems primed to stuff the stat sheet in his freshman season as a Bulldog, leading many to predict that he will be the first overall pick in this year’s draft.
However, some scouts may believe that these stats are empty if they fail to translate into wins.
